My Top Ten Movies of 2008

Seeing as how there are less than three days left, and I don’t plan on seeing anymore movies, I think it’s alright to go ahead and post this. So…I watched 76 new movies this year. Only 25 of them actually came out this year, so those were the only ones considered for my Top Ten Movies of 2008.

#10 – Hamlet 2
Actually, I only gave this movie 3.5 stars (out of 5), and there are a few that got more stars that didn’t make my list (like Man on Wire and Hancock), but in retrospect, I would watch Hamlet 2 again, and I really enjoyed the songs. It’s the only musical of the 25 movies, so it had to be included.

#9 – The Love Guru
Mike Myers + Toronto Maple Leafs + extremely stupid humour = WIN!

#8 – Baby Mama
Good movie. Made me laugh. I enjoyed it.

#7 – The Other Boelyn Girl
Good movie. Made me cry. I died a little inside. I enjoyed it.

#6 – Speed Racer
OMG! So colourful! I loved it! I heart Emile Hirsch. Yes, I am the only person in the world who loved this movie. Yeah, what?!

#5 – Penelope
I love fairy tales, and it’s always nice when they come up with new ones. It was really cute.

#4 – Milk
This ranks on my list of movies people must see (that list includes movies like American History X, The Life of David Gale, and V for Vendetta). I was in San Francisco earlier this year when they were filming it, but unfortunately I picked a day to visit the Castro when they weren’t filming, but it was cool to see how they changed the stores and stuff.

#3 – Nick and Nora’s Infinite Playlist
So good I was willing to see this movie twice in one weekend.

#2 – Definitely, Maybe
It’s really hard to be original with romantic comedies, but this one made it work. Also, I heart Isla Fisher.

#1 – The Curious Case of Benjamin Button
This movie is nothing like the book, so they each stand alone. The book is excellent, and the movie is amazing.
