Personality vs. Character

Not a lot of people understand the difference between someone’s personality and someone’s character. Many think personality is character. For those of us who study Astrology, the difference is obvious, and we understand how that all works. It just goes to show that most of us do not wear our hearts on our sleeves, most of us wear masks, and any other cliche along those lines you can think of.

Character is the part of you that you are aware of. You know if you are adventurous, compassionate, social, etc. This is the person you know best. Personality is what others see. You may or may not be aware of what you are projecting or how people perceive you. You might be the most caring person in the world, but people still might think you’re a bitch because your personality is a bitch, but your character is caring.

When faced with a difficult situation, an emergency, a tragedy, whatever, we tend to let go of our defenses, our personality, and our true characters come out to play for everyone to see. That’s probably why it’s during intense situations we get to know each other best. You can talk yourself up however much you want. You can say and share stuff about yourself in whatever way; however, when put to the test, there is no hiding who you really are. You may even learn more about your own character while others are discovering as well.

Also, I don’t believe people’s true character is necessarily revealed when intoxicated. That’s just another side of their personality.
