I go through phases where I go completely nutso over something. The worst was when I was 17 and became completely obsessed with Sailor Moon. I spent thousands on manga, anime, and various merchandise (I wish I was exaggerating, but no, it really was thousands…ok, maybe only a couple thousand, but that’s still a shitload to be spending on useless crap). The thing that got me the most were the cards. Luckily I learned my lesson, so that a couple years later when I got into Harry Potter, I restrained myself. I still found other outlets to go full throttle into Harry Potter fandom, but I stayed away from the cards. It’s not only fiction unfortunately. I also get obsessed with celebrities (though I haven’t gotten too obsessed with anyone since 2004). Even when it comes to hobbies, I can go all out for a little while, and then I lose interest. I don’t always lose complete interest, but it’s no longer a focal point. For instance I just learned how to knit, and I bought all kinds of yarn and needles (even crochet stuff thinking I would learn that, too), but I have been working on the same blanket for months now. It’s sitting on my desk. I work on it occasionally. I think it was just taking so long. Things usually hold my interest longer when there is instant gratification of some kind.
So my latest obsession? It actually started in 2006. I discovered a manga series called Sensual Phrase (Kaikan Phrase in Japan), which is about a girl’s relationship with the lead singer of a band. It was a mild and short lived obsession because the volumes all came out within months of each other, so I finished reading the series soon after. That was it.
…or so I thought. Then recently someone told me about the anime series Kaikan Phrase. I looked it up, found it, and watched all 44 episodes in just four days. Of course this reignited my mild obsession with the manga, but with their powers combined, I’ve completely lost it. She even found some of the music for me, and I have been on a mission to find the rest. A real life band had been formed based on the band in the manga in order to promote the anime, and they released three original albums (which I found, hooray!). I still need to find one more album, which was actually made before the anime even started, and it is based on the lyrics in the manga.
Hopefully this little momentary lapse of insanity doesn’t last too long. I have better things to do like sit on my ass and daydream. Luckily there aren’t any cards to collect this time.
I go through crazy phases too– mine are different… a certain color or books… I was really into beanie babies when they were big.

Very late to the party but…
Hey, your particular worst obsession isn’t so bad. As a result of it you’ll be one of a small group of people to which the phrase “gentle uterus” won’t cause terrible puzzlement. Never know when that’ll come in handy.
